We are all blessed to have made to our 50th year as graduates of John R Buchtel High School. What a wonderful privilege to be able to reconnect with friends you've had for such a long time.
We were among the first to attend a desegregated school during such a challenging time in our country. and make friends of other ethnic groups.
Everyone got along wonderfully!
[Ruth posted this note after the reunion: "Greetings I see my comment in the year book has caused and uproar which was never my intention.
I simply meant that we at Buchtel all seemed to get along wonderfully despite the fact that it was a very difficult time in history for African Americans.
Perhaps this was not everyone reality but it certainly was ours (African Americans) and I simply attempted to convey my feelings on how no one at Buchtel to my knowledge every received cruel treatment from other students."]
